Broke ankle?

what to expect
Answer:
A cast for 6 weeks or longer. Possibly physiotherapy after you get the cast off to return your range of motion. You may not be allowed to bear any weight on the foot for the entire time you have the cast, depending on the severity of the break.Expect some discomfort from the cast, it's summer and it gets hot in there. Don't, and I can't emphasise this enough, don't ever put anything inside the cast to scratch an itch because you might cause an abrasion that could become infected and that would cause you to have to have the cast off until the infection clears.Get a wheel chair if you can, makes getting around much easier. An ice pack on the outside of the cast, believe it or not, helps alot with cooling and with inflammation. The upside is, after 6 weeks, or perhaps longer, (I had a very severe break required 3 months in a cast) the ankle can be as good as new, providing you do as you are told. If you are told no weight bearing, then don't put your foot down. If you have a walking cast, then you can bear some weight and it won't be so bad. There will be some time after the cast comes off where you suffer some pain, don't worry about that, it goes away.
ow
Is it in a cast yet? If so lots of itching, sweaty feet/ankle. Going to be a long summer!
