Answer:
I get light headed and feel like I'm going to throw up every time I get blood drawn.. It helps if you have a piece of hard candy or something with a bunch of sugar right before you go... this keeps your blood sugar high and can reduce the feeling of needing to pass out. Don't look at the needle or the blood... this can be a major problem... music helps too... the other thing is to tell the person drawing your blood that you have a hard time and you are prone to fainting... that way they can be ready and can take more time looking for a good vein and only stick you once. I'd like to tell you it gets better but I know mine hasn't I just deal with it. I had my mom come with me last time to hold my hand (I'm in my 20's) it was nice to have that mommy comfort feeling again. Otherwise just remember to breath slowly and don't look at it! Good Luck!
I used to faint every time I gave blood, I've found that lying down and putting on headphones and listening to music.
I get sick when I get blood tests too..! but, never faint just get sick to my stomach and get lightheaded. I know it is because,I hate Needles, hospitals. I faint when I see blood! it is a reaction I get when I see the Blood,or needle. being puntured with the needle..feeling it go in my arm, feeling pain.
It is all bad nerves for me..it may be for you too! I know my body just takes over and I get real sick! I just try to breathe in deep holding my breathe. and I take Promethazine for my Nausia.( Prescription only.). you may want to talk to your Dr about it..
