Can I get some medical advice?

My upper back and left shoulder/arm is hurting so bad. The pain is excruciating. Please don't tell me to go to the doctor. I have an appointment set for Thursday. But I was wondering if anyone has a clue about what might be the problem and what I might be able to do between now and then to relieve the pain. I'll elaborate on what I'm feeling: My lower neck and upper back is sore (like how we feel when we get the flu). Same with my left shoulder. The pain radiates down my left arm-- But, the further down it goes, it feels more like sunburn or like I held my arm over the stove until I got a bit fried. Know what I mean? Asprin isn't killing the pain. Pain killers aren't helping. And I have drank so much booze that my belly is STUFFED. Does anyone have any advice? Know what's wrong with me or what I could do to ease the pain 'til I see the doc? Thanks!
Answer:
Could it be possible that you have Pleurisy?
Try a heating pad you can make one from home with a cloth bag and rice not instant rice but regular rice heat in the microwave for 5 minutes and make shore the bag is closed tightly .Apply to area that hurts or if you can get someone to rub some icy hot on it
Stop drinking. It won't help. Sounds like somehow you may have damaged a nerve. What kind of pain killers? Please don't mix booze and any pills. Please?! I hope you have a good doctor. Have you tried ice or heat on it? Tried slowly stretching or anything? The sunburn like feeling makes me think, nerve damage. I hope not.
I hope you get relief from this agony soon. Take care and good luck.
Sorry to tell you...sounds like you may have broken a bone or torn some ligaments/tendons. GO TO THE HOSPITAL...Since you're intoxicated, call someone to drive you there. If it is a break, you could do yourself some serious hurt not getting treatment right away. The same is true if you tore any ligaments or tendons.
Thank you for describing the quality of pain. A burning sensation is associated with nerve pain. It's possible that you have a pinched nerve and aspirin/pain killers/booze won't alleviate nerve pain. Moist heat or a heating pad may help. Gently and carefully stretching your spine in all directions might reduce the pressure on the nerve, thus relieveing pain. I hope it's not a disc involved and I wish you luck next Thursday.
It would be nice to know how old you are and if there are other heart problems. At my age I'd worry about a heart attack. Females present somewhat differently, often with stomach ache or pain under the jaw. Any risk factors such as high cholesterol, blood pressure or diabetes? Gall bladder pain is usually referred to the right shoulder.Any injury or overuse to suspect rotator cuff injury? A pinched nerve? Whiplash?Chest disease can cause shoulder pain, like pneumonia or pleuritis. Worst case scenario could be a tumor spreading to the ribs. Personally, if I were in the degree of pain you describe, I'd see a doctor very soon.
you could be having a heart attack. Seriously, don't wait for the Dr. just go to the ER.
As a couple of others already suggested, use heat pads which you heat in the microwave, you may use a cloth on your skin for protection if the pad is too hot (it needs to be). You must repeat constantly reheating. If you have more than one pad or even an infrared lamp you can purchase from chemists, use one of those. You need to be patient, use these very often and repeatedly, and use a good massuer to massage the whole area in addition to the hot pad use at home. It may become painfull, it is a branch of the cervical nerves that had blockers in the past and is becoming reinervated. It is good that you are going to the doctors for peace of mind, meanwhile, if you have not already being taken in and have to wait long, you must be certain somehow that it is not serious. If it is then I'd try another doctor who can see you right away until you see your own.
It appears to be nerve related though and a chinese massuer might do the work for you.
With the type of pain you are having, it does sound much like a pinched nerve. Aspirin, Tylenol most likely wont' help much. Try 800mg of Ibuprofen, as that as used as an anti-inflamatory more than for pain, which is what you need right now. Try soaking in a hot bath, and using heating pads. With the degree of pain you are experiencing, I realy don't think you should wait till Thursday to see a doc. I would go to the ER or an Urgent Care center. Prolonging treatment will only worsen the pain. GL and hope you are feeling better soon.
