Can chocolate cause a migraine headache?

It seems like I've been getting bad headaches when I eat chocolate, which I love. It says that most people aren't allergic to chocolate. Caffeine doesn't bother me at all. I keep trying to figure out what is setting these headaches off and it seems that chocolate in the evening causes me to wake up with a bad headache. Anyone ever hear of this?
Answer:
Nonever did.You might be clinching your jaw at night when you sleep.
Yes. Studies have shown that caffeine and chocolate can be migraine "triggers".
yes, many people have an allergic reaction to a natually occuring chemical in chocolate that causes them to have migranes. Usually it has nothing to do with the caffeine. Too bad, cause chocolate is so yummy!
It certainly is possible. It's also easy to check. Lay off the chocolate for a week. If you don't get any headaches, try the chocolate again. If they start up again, you've found the cause.
Yes my wife is the same way. Chocalate is a trigger that most people do not realize. Caffine doesn't bother my wife either she uses it to get going in the morning (coffee with cream) and drinks tea the rest of the day. Their are also other foods and products that can cause the trigger. Look it up on www.webmd./migraines.
I have heard that choc. can be the cause of a migraine headache, I get them and have been to a neurologist several times they keep giving me a list of foods that I should avoid, but sometimes it is foods that are not on the list. If you find that something causes them I suggest that you stay away from that.
